Privacy policy

What we hold, why we hold it, who else can see it, and what you can ask us to do about it.

This explains what personal data we hold, why, who else can see it, and what you can ask us to do about it. Last updated 21 August 2026.

Leaders to Watch is an independent publication based in India. We are a small operation and we collect as little as possible.

Reading the site takes nothing from you

There is no account, no login and no paywall. You can read everything here without telling us who you are.

We do not run advertising. We do not use advertising or retargeting trackers, we do not record your screen or your mouse movements, and we never sell or rent anybody’s data.

What we collect

Analytics. We use Google Analytics to count how many people read what. It runs from the moment a page loads and sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_VS3MGS88J8, recording your approximate city, device and browser, how you arrived, which pages you opened and how far you scrolled. We use it to decide what to write more of. We have not switched on any advertising features, and we do not use it to build a profile of you. You can turn it off at any time using Opt out in the cookie notice, or the Cookie settings link in the footer. If you do, we switch Google Analytics off for your browser and delete the two cookies.

If you email us or use a form. We keep your name, email address, the organisation you give and what you wrote, so we can reply. The partner enquiry form adds you to a list used only for partner enquiries. It does not sign you up to the newsletter.

The newsletter. If you subscribe we hold your email address and whether you opened an edition. Every email has an unsubscribe link and one click is enough. The list is never sold or shared.

Server logs. Our host keeps standard access logs, including IP addresses, for security and to keep the site running.

We never ask for your date of birth, postal address, phone number or payment details, because we have no use for them.

Cookies

When you first arrive we show a notice telling you the site uses one analytics cookie. That cookie is set from the first page you open, so we can count readers we would otherwise miss. There is an Opt out button in the notice, and the site works exactly the same either way.

The two Google Analytics cookies named above are the only cookies a normal visitor receives. There are no advertising cookies here, and no tracking that follows you to other sites. You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer, or clear cookies in your browser.

One thing we should be straight about, because it used to work the other way round: our typefaces are served from our own server, so nothing about the type on this page tells anybody else that you visited. Until 30 August 2026 the fonts came from Google Fonts, which meant Google received your IP address on every page load, before you had chosen anything. That no longer happens.

Who else can see it

We use a few suppliers to run the site. They process data on our instructions and each has its own privacy policy.

  • Google, for Analytics, unless you opt out.
  • Brevo, which receives what you submit through a form here.
  • beehiiv, which sends the newsletter and holds the subscriber list.
  • Hostinger, which hosts the website and our mailbox.

Some of these are outside India, so your data may be processed abroad. Beyond these we share personal data with nobody, except where the law requires it.

If we have written about you

We publish journalism about people in their professional capacity, built from public sources, and every factual claim carries a named, dated source shown on the page. We do not publish home addresses, personal contact details, family information, health information or anything else about a person’s private life.

If something about you is wrong, tell us and we will correct it. If a photograph of you is out of date, tell us and we will replace it. If you want to know what we hold about you, ask and we will tell you.

One honest limit: asking us to erase personal data does not automatically remove published journalism. Where the two conflict we will tell you plainly what we are doing and why.

What you can ask us to do

You can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. You can withdraw consent at any time, and unsubscribing is always one click.

Email hello@leaderstowatch.com. We read it daily and we will not make it difficult.

How long we keep things

Newsletter subscribers, until you unsubscribe. Enquiries and correspondence, up to three years. Analytics, 14 months. Published articles are a permanent record and stay up unless there is good reason to change them.

Children

This site is written for adults working in or following business. It is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Security

The site runs over HTTPS, access is limited and we take backups. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects you, we will tell you without delay.

Links to other sites

Once you follow a link you are on someone else’s site, under their privacy policy, and we have no control over what they do.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Our terms of use cover everything else about using this site.

The Watchlist · fortnightly

One email every two weeks. The people worth watching, and the evidence for why.

Not a list of links. One argument about how power actually moves in Indian business, the names we added that month, and a dated record of who moved.
